The Challenge Cup is the only pan-European rugby Cup and is beginning to carve out a name for itself despite the fact that it had slow beginnings. The Challenge Cup is made up of24 teams drawn from England, France, Italy, Romania, Scotland and Wales divided into four groups of six who play out in a knock out fashion. So the Challenge Cup is a slowly developing Cup that is getting more and more exciting every year.

In Rugby League this season the Oldham Roughyeds are not doing too badly on the Co-operative Championship table 1 as they currently sit at the number four spot. Oldham Roughyeds are one of the world's oldest rugby league teams, having started as a team as one of the twenty-two original clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union. Oldham Roughyeds was then one of the founding members of the Super League in 1996 after enjoying a period of greatness in the early 1990s. However unfortunately for Oldham Roughyeds it was relegated in 1997 and in that was not bad enough they went bankrupt as well. After a reformation and some success they have now been in the second division since 2006.

Something else that continues to get exciting in the world of sport is cricket equipment because as cricket equipment improves and medornises so does the game itself. Though fundamentally cricket is still played in much the same fashion as it was in Victorian times, protective cricket equipment such as gloves, helmets and pads have changed dramatically in recent times. However cricket equipment such as bats and balls have incredibly changed very little over the development of the game.

In the tennis world there is always plenty going on, however one of the names that has really stood out in tennis history is Althea Gibson, made history as the first ever African-American woman to compete on the world tennis tour and the first to win a Grand Slam. Althea Gibson went on to have many successes in her tennis career and will live on as one of the great names in tennis for the histroy of the game.
