Glasgow Warriors captain Al Kellock sounds warning ahead of Fiji Test

WE'RE NOT planning on getting sucked into anything is Warriors skipper Al Kellock's message ahead of Scotland's clash against Fiji this Saturday.

The Pacific Islanders head to Murrayfield looking to continue on the progress made since the last World Cup in 2007 which saw them knock out Wales and come close to beating eventual winners South Africa in the last eight.

Fiji are renown for chucking the ball around and playing a no-holds barred game, and while some are expecting this style of play on Saturday, Big Al and Scotland have other ideas.

He said: "We need to keep in tight in the set-piece and make sure we deny Fiji as much of the ball as possible.

"Yes, they have this running game but whatever the team or style that they play, we do not intend to allow ourselves to get sucked into anything.

"We've been working really hard on our set-piece in training and hopefully we can dictate the game and have our backs be the ones doing the running game."

Big Al is back in the team under new boss Andy Robinson - his first cap since the win over Italy in the Six Nations earlier this year.

He added: "It doesn't feel like my first cap again because my appearances have been staggered.

"Everyone is under pressure to perform so it is not just me under the spotlight.

"The competition for places is very high and there are no guaranteed shirts. for anybody.

"But first and foremost, we are all playing to win the game and whether or not we get called up again will take care of itself."

Despite being Glasgow's captain, it is team-mate Chris Cusiter who'll be giving the orders.

Al laughed: "He has not asked me to shine his shoes yet. But seriously, Chris is a great leader in the Glasgow dressing and we work well together on the pitch."
