Hefin O'Hare
WARRIORS wing ace Hefin O'Hare is rugby's pedal king after cycling the length of Britain for charity.
O'Hare took just over a week to cycle 900 milesfrom Land's End to John O'Groats to raise money for Yorkhill Hospital.
The hospital helped exWarrior Daryl Gibson when his wife prematurely gave birth to their triplets and the club have been delighted in giving something back.
O'Hare has raised over s2500 so far although at one stage he thought he might have to splash the cash himself - on bail money.
He laughed: "I did have a brush with the law on the Forth Road Bridge. Weather conditions meant cyclists couldn't go on the footpath so faced with going the long route, I instead took a chance on cycling on the road itself.
"Needless to say the traffic cops were soon on my trail and pulled me over once I crossed the bridge.
"Once I explained what I was doing we had a laugh about it and they sent me on my way - without a donation unfortunately."
Hefin also had trouble with the elements with nature waging war on both him and his bike.
He added: "I had numerous problems with tyres. There were a few punctures but the worst was outside of in a thunderstorm.
"There was no one around for miles so I spent two hours getting soaked before I could receive some assistance.
"Then came the sunburn on my ears and lest we forget one or two blisters."
O'Hare reveals he was also up against the clock to reach John O'Groats.
He continued: "A mate said he'd give me a lift back but I had to reach the finishing line by 12 noon as he had to get back to Glasgow for his work. Thankfully I made it.
"Now I've only a little time to rest as Sean Lineen (Warriors boss) has told me to be in for training on Monday."
