Glasgow Warriors celebrate double award ahead of play-off crunch with Leinster

GLASGOW WARRIORS walked away with two prestigious accolades at the RaboDirect PRO12 awards on Sunday night.

Teenager Stuart Hogg capped a super campaign by collecting the Young Player of the Year award.

The Hawick man fought off competition from Scarlets’ Ben Morgan and Leinster’s Ian Madigan to scoop the gong.

And the Warriors as a team were named the Rhino Collision Kings, an award given to the side judged to have been most clinical at the breakdown in the PRO12 this season.

The awards were given out at a ceremony in Cardiff on Sunday six days before the Warriors’ semi-final against Leinster at the RDS in Dublin.

Managing Director Nathan Bombrys said: “Stuart deserves to be named Young Player of the Year. He has been consistently excellent and has the potential to develop into an even more fantastic asset.

“Our season has been built on a great team ethic and we’re delighted to see the consistency and intensity of our work at the breakdown recognised with the Rhino Collision Kings award.”
