Big week for Hillhead/Jordanhill as club close in on promotion dream

HARD work and determination have been the key ingredients to getting Hillhead/Jordanhill back on the rugby map says boss Keith Robertson.

The west end aces can clinch promotion back into the second division if they win at Perthshire this Saturday - a remarkable turnaround from two years ago.

Back then, Hills suffered relegation to the third tier of Scottish rugby as wins that season were harder to come by than ice in the Sahara.

But after dusting themselves down, Robertson and Hills have made a full recovery and look set for a glorious end to the current campaign.

He beamed: "The boys deserve all the credit because they've put in a lot of hard work and grit and it's paying off.

"After the horror show of two years ago, we told the players the slate was clean and drew up a programme to improve our basic skills and fitness.

"We consolidated last season and could have gone back up then but that has served us well this time around.

"The great thing about this team is that we're not reliant on one player. If one gets injured, someone can fill in.

"Hopefully, we can finish the job off with promotion."
