Speedway: Glasgow Tigers complete double signing ahead of Redcar Bears visit to Ashfield

GLASGOW TIGERS have axed faltering reserve duo Jade Mudgway and Robert Ksiezak ahead of the KO Cup trip to Plymouth on Friday.

The Kiwi and the Aussie have been released less than two months into the season and replaced by Czech rider Filip Sitera and former Ipswich star Chris Mills.

Both riders will debut at Plymouth and then make their home bows in Sunday's Premier League clash against Redcar.

Co-Promoter Alan Dick said: "There is no doubt that telling a rider he is being released from the side is an unpleasant experience not one we had to do last season at all.

"But the bottom line is that we are not winning and as such we need to change things for the sake of our supporters and our business.

"Filip is a rider we all admire and hopefully this move will see him prosper given that he will have a long term place in the team.

"Chris is slightly different in that he is looking for an avenue back into the sport after missing out at the start of the season."

Sitera, 24, is nephew of Czech speedway legends Jan and Václav Verner and has spent most his career racing in his homeland and Poland although he did have spells with Coventry Bees and King's Lynn Stars.

Mills, 29, is an experienced Premier League rider and goes straight into the Tigers line-up at number two while Sitera will fill the number four jersey.

It allows promising Aussie duo Mason Campton and Jayden O'Malley to drop back to reserve as Glasgow bid to breath new life into their league title defence.
