GLASGOW TIGERS bosses hope to get fans buzzing ahead of the new season by lining-up a glamour challenge clash with Coventry Bees at Ashfield.
The Elite League giants are expected to confirm in the next few days the trip north to face Stewart Dickson's new-look Tigers outfit on Sunday, March 21.
Not only will the meeting set the Tigers riders a fantastic challenge but it will also allow Glasgow fans an opportunity to witness some of the biggest names in British speedway.
The Bees who won the Elite League as recently as 2007 would come to Ashfield with an immensely talented side including British Champion and GP Star Chris 'Bomber' Harris, pictured, a former signing target of the Glasgow club in 2003.
Harris, one of the most exciting and gutsy riders in world speedway, is backed-up in the form of ex-Edinburgh star Rory Schlien and Great Britain World Team Cup rider Edward Kennett.
These three alone form a powerhouse of a heat-leader trio and will prove an enormous handful for the Tigers' big guns of Travis McGowan, James Grieves and Josh Grajczonek.
Likely to complete the impressive Bees side are 2009 British finalist Ben Barker, Czech international Filip Sitera, German international Christian Heffenbrook and young British starlet Josh Auty who performed impressively in Australia during this winter.
Whilst Tigers fans will anxiously look forward to being entertained by the first class Bees side led by the personable Alun Rossiter, the meeting will undoubtedly prove to be a very steep re-introduction to race action for the majority of the 2010 Tigers who aspire to compete in the top flight Elite league.
Meanwhile, Glasgow fans will get their first opportunity to see the side ahead of the new season next Sunday, March 14, when the club host the popular Press and Practice Day at Ashfield.
The competitive action gets underway with a double header against rivals Edinburgh Monarchs in the Spring Trophy with the first leg in the capital on Friday, March 26 and the return on Sunday, March 28 at Ashfield.
