CLYDESDALE and West of Scotland are well-represented in the Western Warriors regional squad.

In a new competition against other Scottish regions - in a bid to bridge the gap between club cricket and international level - Dale have five players selected with West having three.

Dale batsman Qasim Sheikh will captain the Warriors and is joined by club team-mates, Kasim Farid, Zeeshan Bashir, Majid Haq and Omer Hussain.

West meanwhile have Ian Young, Dougie Lockhart and Moneeb Iqbal.

Western Warriors' first match is this Sunday away to Eastern Knights in Edinburgh while their first home fixture is at Titwood against Caledonian Highlanders on May 3.
