Pitch perfect Poloc given Scottish Cup reprieve

POLOC cricket club received a boost ahead of this summer when beaks at Cricket Scotland decided not to throw them out of this year's Scottish Cup.

As featured in the Glaswegian last summer, the cup tie between Poloc and south-side rivals Clydesdale was called off when the pitch, pictured, was deemed by the latter to be unplayable.

Poloc withdrew from the competition in protest saying there was nothing wrong with the pitch and faced expulsion for the 2010 trophy.

However, having received both written and verbal statements from the club as well as the Glaswegian's photos of the pitch on that day, Cricket Scotland decided that no punishment was necessary leaving Poloc free to participate in this summer's trophy.

Spokesman Keith Young said: "The club believes, is a pragmatic, as well as reasonable, decision. We are also grateful for the opportunity to make a written submission to the Competitions Committee and we now consider the matter closed."
