Speedway: Josh Grajczonek back in the groove for Glasgow Tigers as Elite League move stalls

GLASGOW star Josh Grajczonek insists he has put thoughts of an Elite League switch on the back burner to continue his climb back to top form.

The Aussie ace starred as Tigers beat Plymouth Devils 49-41 in a thriller on Sunday to move out of the Premier League bottom three.

Fans favourite Graj was the subject of a s10,000 bid from a top league side two months ago but the offer was rejected and his form appeared to nosedive as a result.

But the 22-year-old has now posted two double-figure scores on the bounce and admits hes enjoying his speedway again after making some adjustments to his bike.

He said: My gating is getting a lot better which is a confidence boost for me and the team.

I felt I was letting the side down with some low scores here at Ashfield but thats two weeks in a row I have hit double figures so Im happier.

Ive changed a few things in my clutch which is working a bit better now and thats a help.

When you are scoring points you enjoy it but when you arent then everything piles up on you and the pressure can really get to you.

Grajczonek was signed as a double-up rider for Elite League Belle Vue at the start of the season along with Edinburghs Craig Cook, a move which allows Premier League riders to taste top tier action.

But Cooks imperious form has seen Grajs chances limited and he admits the frustration got the better of him.

And he realises recapturing top form for Glasgow is the key to landing an Elite League deal. He said: I want to be in the Elite League full-time but its not really happening for me at Belle Vue right now because Cooky is in top form.

Im not getting the rides in the Elite League that I want and it has got to me because there are only a couple of meetings in a week so Im sitting around twiddling my thumbs.

Glasgow has been good for me over the past four years and Im happy riding here. But I still plan to
make the step-up to Elite League.

Grajczonek was Glasgows main man as he tabled 12 points to help quell the Devils threat on Sunday, a result which takes Glasgow to eighth in the table.

The visitors had the star of the show in Flyin Ryan Fisher who notched 14 points from five races but a strong team effort from Glasgow with Mason Campton also hitting double figures clinched the win.

Tigers boss Stewart Dickson had slammed his side following their KO Cup flop against Edinburgh last week but his harsh words seemed to have a galvanising effect.

Grajczonek added: Stewart never said too much to me because I had a half decent meeting but he told some of the boys to start pulling their weight and threatened them a bit.

But we bounced back so it worked.
