Juniors: Pollok boss demands one final push as club look to complete great escape

POLLOK boss John Richardson has urged his side to produce one final effort against Auchinleck Talbot to ensure Superleague survival.

A 4-1 win over Largs on Monday has fired fresh hope that the Glasgow giants can avoid a relegation play-off as they prepare for a last day scrap against Bot.

Victory over the Ayrshire outfit would secure safety for Lok and Richardson insists that will mean his remit for the season has been fulfilled.

He said: “The win over Largs means that a play-off is the most we’ll have to do to stay up but if we beat Talbot we will be safe and it would leave Cumnock in trouble.

“We have been battling to pull clear of trouble and we now need one last huge effort to do that.

“The players have responded well recently but the bottom line is we need to make sure we are playing Premier Superleague football next season.

“When I accepted the job at Pollok it was all about making sure we avoided relegation.

“If we do that I will be pleased and then we can regroup. But nothing has been decided yet.”

Meanwhile, Yoker Athletic secured a second successive promotion on Wednesday when they defeated Port Glasgow 3-1 to sneak second spot and a place in the Superleague First Division.
