Partick Thistle ace Paul Cairney set for Firhill farewell against Falkirk

PARTICK THISTLE fans will pay tribute to club stalwart Alan Archibald tomorrow.. but it could be farewell to another Jags star.

Paul Cairney will make his last appearance of the season for the Firhill men when Falkirk visit and the midfielder, whose contract ends next month, is being trailed by a host of clubs.

Hibs and Aberdeen have been linked with the 24-year-old. And it's understood Championship side Derby County are also keen on the former Queen's Park player as are English League newboys Fleetwood Town.

Cairney - who has hit 12 goals this season - picked up his sixth league booking of the season last Saturday at Dundee and is therefore suspended for the club's final fixture against Hamilton.

He will line up in his advanced role against the Bairns tomorrow with Thistle looking to build on last week's excellent 3-0 win at Dundee.

Archibald, meanwhile, will be centre of attention as the club pays tribute to their captain in his 400th appearance.

Jags boss Jackie McNamara has assured the 34-year-old a new deal will be on the table for next season as Archie combines playing duties with coaching the next generation of Firhill stars.

McNamara said: "It is a great achievement for Alan to have reached this landmark, especially when you consider the problems that he has had with injuries.

"It says much for the type of person that he is that he has been able to come back from these injuries. 

"Alan is a great example to the young players at the Club and I think that he is really enjoying the role that he is playing with the coaching of the young players."

Paul Paton is definitely out of tomorrow's match through suspension while Chris Erskine, Kris Doolan and Aaron Sinclair are injury doubts.
