IAN McCALL has warned Falkirk they will have to drastically improve their offer if they want to re-sign Marc Twaddle.
The Partick Thistle boss, still reeling from losing prize asset Gary Harkins to Dundee yesterday, is now faced with batting away interest in highly-rated Twaddle.
Thistle have already rebuffed one offer from the SPL side - thought to be in the region of s40,000.
But the Bairns insist they are still in the market for the full-back who, ironically, was a Falkirk player up until two years ago.
Asked today about Falkirk's interest, McCall said: "Unless their offer is greatly improved then Marc Twaddle is going nowhere."
Money, of course, talks in these desperate days in Scottish football and McCall knows every player is available at the right price.
The s150,000 which Partick received from Dundee for Harkins yesterday is a record fee between two Scottish clubs this season.
But the manager is unlikely to see a penny of it as the money goes towards paying off the Jags considerable debt.
McCall said: "I will be speaking to the board about bringing players in but I probably won't be seeing any of that money.
"It's up in the air at the moment - what you want and what you get are often two very different things."
McCall has consistently said he is four players short of a squad to challenge for the First Division title. And with Harkins gone he accepts that figure is now five.
Reports linking Thistle with a move for Hamilton striker Mark Corcoran have been rubbished as "internet talk" by McCall but he hopes to bring in at least two new faces before the start of the season.
