Rutherglen gang hospitalise two men after armed assault

A COWARDLY gang launched an unprovoked assault of two men at the weekend.

The six thugs attacked the pair, both aged 22, in the early hours of Sunday morning in Rutherglen.

And police believe the attack on the two may just have been one of many from the gang.

The pair had been walking with friends along Cruachan Road at around 2.35am when they were challenged by the group.

Both men were then attacked, one with a knife and the other with a bottle.

They were taken to hospital where their condition has been described as serious but stable.

Detective Sergeant Josie McGhee said: "This would appear to be a totally unprovoked attack on the two men and from our inquiries we are aware that the group of men responsible may already have challenged others in the area to a fight."
