A MAN has admitted raping a woman and sexually assaulting another in the space of 15 minutes in the city centre at Christmas.

Scott Kerr, 22, dragged his first victim, a 20-year-old woman, into a car park in James Watt Street and assaulted her in the early hours of Wednesday December 21.

A quarter of an hour later, he raped a 22-year-old woman on a ramp into an underground car park serving the BT building across the road.

At the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday, Kerr, who moved from East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire to Dundee about a month before he carried out the attacks, pled guilty to the savage attacks.

John Dunn, procurator fiscal for the west of Scotland, said: "Scott Kerr subjected two young women to the most terrifying of attacks which shocked the people of Glasgow and many others across Scotland.

"Through close working between police and the prosecutors in our specialist sexual offences units, and by the crucial use of CCTV footage to identify the accused, Scott Kerr has today accepted his guilt.

"Thankfully this kind of offence is extremely rare.

"However, we hope that by securing a plea of guilty, which has allowed the case to conclude without the need for victims to give evidence in court, anybody who has been affected by this type of crime and has yet to come forward will have confidence that their case will be investigated with the utmost professionalism and respect from the very outset."

Kerr was remanded in custody to await sentence on June 22.
