A MAN aged 21 has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man in a city street yesterday morning.

The body of Gary Logue, 48, was discovered in Elderpark Street in the Govan area of Glasgow at around 4.10am on Tuesday.

Police said they received an anonymous call informing them that a man was lying in the street.

They found Mr Logue, from the Pollokshields area of Glasgow, seriously injured with stab wounds.

He was taken by ambulance to Southern General Hospital but was dead on arrival.

Strathclyde Police launched a murder inquiry last night following a postmortem examination.

Officers have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the death and he will remain in police custody ahead of an appearance at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.

A full report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

During the day on Tuesday a police cordon was erected around Elderpark Street, Crossloan Road and Nimmo Drive.

It caused significant disruption to local businesses with traffic also affected.

One man told The Glaswegian that he arrived at his work in a shop on Elderpark Street just before 9am to find the area swarming with police officers.

He said yesterday: "I ended up having to park my car on Craigton Road and walking the rest of the way.

"At first, I didn't think I'd be getting in but the policemen said I'd be all right opening up.

"They were interviewing everyone who was going past.

"It's been a nightmare for trade with all the chaos in the area. But I feel so sorry for the man's family"

The worker said a team of crime scene investigators turned up around  lunchtime to carry out forensic tests and other officers quizzed locals.
