TWO dogs with dicky tickers have found new owners to care for their special needs – thanks to The Glaswegian.
The Dogs Trust feared they would have trouble finding homes for Max and Ben, who both came to the rehoming centre last year.
The Glaswegian featured the doggy duo’s story last November in a bid to find them a home and now we’re delighted that they both have caring owners to look after them.
Thirteen-year-old Ben has a heart murmur and will need medication for the rest of his life.
Although his day-to-day life is relatively unaffected, he needed an owner willing to keep an eye on his medical condition.
Crossbreed Max, seven, has atrial fibrillation, a condition causing his heart to “misfire” and not beat as it should.
Combined with an infection around his heart, it meant he needed a very calm home.
Sandra Lawton, manager of the Dogs Trust Glasgow rehoming centre, said: “It is usual for it to take longer to find an older dog a new home than a younger one.
“Dogs with medical problems struggle even more, so we are
thrilled that Max and Ben have found such wonderful new homes so quickly.
“We’d like to thank the press for their support as the rehoming features on Max and Ben really helped highlight them to a wider audience – and especially to people able to cope with their particular requirements.
“We wish Max, Ben and their new owners every happiness.”
Mrs Morgan, from Pollok, who rehomed Ben, said: “Ben might be 13 but he is still a feisty little chap. He does need medication every day but apart from that you wouldn’t know he had a problem.
“We are just pleased that we were able to offer him a home.”
