demolition
A 17-STOREY towerblock in north Glasgow was demolished in five seconds in a controlled explosion at the weekend.
It took 55kg of explosives to reduce the flats at 15 Coll Place, Germiston, to 12,000 tonnes of rubble.
The explosion was done at night and 250 people living nearby were evacuated as a precaution.

Alex McGuire, Glasgow Housing Association's executive director of development and regeneration, said: "The demolition of the last of the multi-storeys at Coll Place is part of our wider plans, with out partners, to regenerate communities across the city."
The flats had been part of the Glasgow skyline since 1967 and formed one of three towerblocks in Germiston. One block was demolished in 1992 and the other came down in 2008.
