Otago Lane
RESIDENTS turned out in force at the weekend to oppose new flats being proposed for one of the city's most unique lanes.
More than 200 people converged on Otago Lane in the West End to support local businesses and protest against plans to develop the lane.
Supporters of the campaign have included stars from bands Belle & Sebastian and Franz Ferdinand, and on Saturday, MSPs Sandra White and Pauline McNeill were amongst the cross-party backing.
The lane is currently home to small shops including a bookstore Voltaire & Rousseau and the Tchai Ovna Tearooms and campaigners hail it as a "haven of real west-endness".
Developers concluded a 12-week consultation in December for the mixed use development, of mostly residential with some retail and office space.
No date has been set when the application will be considered by Glasgow City Council.
