AS the headlong rush towards the festive season gathers pace, the city is gearing up for a spectacular series of events as details of Winterfest Glasgow 2009 are announced.
Scotland's newest and rapidly rising indie star, Tommy Reilly, was confirmed as part of the line-up, which will delight revellers who welcome in 2010 at Glasgow's Hogmanay.

Winterfest Glasgow gets off to a dazzling start with the switch on of Glasgow's Christmas Lights, on Sunday, November 15 - with Lord Provost Bob Winter and the Real Radio Breakfast Show team.
The Lord Provost said: "The twinkling winter wonderland always brings a smile to my face as I look forward to so many much loved events."
Other favourites returning this year, including Glasgow on Ice - in George Square from Saturday, November 21, for six weeks.
Dominating the other end of the square, The Big Stage will come alive every night with a programme of free entertainment.
The festive mix will include film screenings in association with the Glasgow Film Theatre, Celtic Connections performances and jazz on Sundays.
In addition, following on from their stomping success last year, Real Radio will return with Friday Night is party night.
Plus the hottest local talent will once again be given the chance to compete in the popular Road to Hogmanay contest, with the winner kick-starting Glasgow's Hogmanay celebrations in George Square.
Other highlights include Shindig, where the best in contemporary Scottish music will delight revellers as part of the Homecoming Scotland Finale and St Andrew's Day celebrations on November 28.
