New pink bus brings Glasgow icon to visitors
He may not have approved of the colour but Charles Rennie Mackintosh would have flushed with pride that a vivid pink tour bus was doing the rounds in Glasgow in his honour.
Glasgow's first official Charles Rennie Mackintosh audio bus tour took to the streets last Friday to show visitors the architect's iconic legacy of buildings and artwork.
Using a pink 33-seater, the Mackintosh Experience Bus Tour will run until September 30, stopping near all major Mack-intos attractions in Glasgow.
The startling colour was chosen by the Mackintosh Heritage Group (MHG).
If the pilot scheme proves popular, it may become a regular seasonal tour.
The 'Mack- Bus' idea came after organisers' fact-finding journeys to see Antoni Gaudi trips around Barcelona and to see how tourists visit the works of Frank Lloyd Wright in Chicago.
MHG's Stuart Robertson said: "Mackintosh is as important to Glasgow as Gaudi and Frank Lloyd Wright are to Barcelona and Chicago."
