TWO major transport projects in central Scotland have been highlighted in a report outlining massive cost overruns.
The M74 extension in Glasgow and the Stirling-Alloa-Kincardine rail link have more than doubled in cost and suffered significant delays. Public spending watchdog Audit Scotland said original estimates for many major public projects are 'too optimistic'.
Another patient has died at a Glasgow hospital affected by an outbreak of the Clostridium difficile bug NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said the patient at the Vale of Leven Hospital in Alexandria had been seriously ill with an unrelated condition.
More than 50 people have been infected with the bug at the hospital, with nine dying as a result of the infection.
