FOOTBALL fans have been given a new way to support their team – and it’s a real Bru-ty!
Drinks giants Irn-Bru have put up £70,000 to be shared between the 30 clubs in the Scottish Football League – including Partick Thistle and Queen’s Park.
All supporters have to do is collect Irn-Bru cans and put them in local collection points, which can be found at Firhill and Hampden and participating stores.
The Irn-Bru Cans for Youth Teams initiative will then award the football clubs, with the number of cans collected translating to a larger share of the money for the youth set-ups.
Irn-Bru’s Martin Steele said: “The passion fans have for the future of Scottish football is something we share and that’s why we’re investing in developing the players of tomorrow.”
SFL chief David Longmuir added: “Irn-Bru’s £70,000 investment will help clubs provide better equipment, training facilities and improved coaching.”
