SWPL: Aberdeen Ladies 1 Celtic Ladies 1

CELTIC Ladies are playing catch-up on the the SWPL leaders after just one match following a frustrating 1-1 draw away to Aberdeen on Sunday.

Robert Docherty's team controlled the 90 minutes but failed to convert the glut of chances created and were made to pay by the dogged Dons.

Skipper Amy McDonald fired Celtic ahead in the first half at Lochside Park, Bridge of Don, with a stunning effort from 25 yards.

But, as Celtic continued to dominate after the break, Aberdeen hit them with a sucker punch when they levelled via a long range free kick.

A frustrated Docherty complemented his side on creating so many chances but was disappointed not to have taken full points.

Docherty said: "Overall, I was pleased with the performance.

"Our attitude was excellent and we were good on the ball, but it was one of those days when you keep playing and can't find a winner.

"There were a lot of positives but we were disappointed with the draw."
