Queen's Park to open league campaign at home to Forfar

QUEEN'S PARK will welcome Forfar Athletic to Hampden when their Third Division campaign gets underway on August 8.

Gardner Speirs' men will square up to the Loons in the opening day fixture before heading north to Elgin City a week later.

The new SFL fixture list was announced today.

The Spiders third fixture, at home to Albion Rovers, will be played on Sunday, August 23.

Speirs was happy with the hand his side had been dealt saying: "It's the best we could have hoped for.

"To get the chance to open the season at Hampden is great for the supporters and, of course, we will already have played there the weekend before in the cup.

"Forfar will provide a stiff test. I know Dick Campbell has released nine or ten players and must be looking to rebuild his side.

"But they came close to the play-offs last season and I'm sure they will give us a difficult match."
