Partick Thistle to hand trialists another chance to win Firhill deal

Aaron Sinclair

PARTICK THISTLE boss Jackie McNamara wants another look at Montrose full back Aaron Sinclair before deciding whether to hand the player a deal at Firhill.

Sinclair, 20, joined fellow trialists Jack Boyle, Kieren Brennan and Ian Cameron on the Jags' pre-season trip to Yorkshire last week.

The quartet all featured in Saturday's disappointing 2-0 friendly defeat to Blyth Spartans.

But McNamara is still pondering which, if any, of the players to hand a deal ahead of the season's start.

The Glaswegian revealed last week how a compensation fee had been agreed with Montrose for their star defender Sinclair, pictured.

But McNamara wants another look at the player before completing any paperwork on a deal.

All four trialists are expected to play some part in this Saturday's friendly against Fleetwood Town, possibly their last chance to impress the Thistle management.

McNamara will be looking for an improvement on the defeat at Blyth which, despite the friendly nature of the match, still gave the boss plenty to ponder.

Thistle made nine changes after a goalless first half with a second half line-up littered with youngsters and trialists.

But the manager said: "We've only just started and we saw today a big difference between the first half and the second half when the kids came into the team.

"We looked really disjoined in the second half and there is much to work on. I'm a wee bit angry at the manner in which we lost the goals in the second half and at simple things that we did wrong."
