Jags on alert as ex-star Gary Harkins makes switch from Dundee to Kilmarnock

PARTICK THISTLE are keeping a close eye on ex-midfielder Gary Harkins' move from Dundee to SPL Kilmarnock as they wait to discover whether they are due a sell-on fee.

Harkins clinched a move to the top division this morning when Kenny Shiels made him his third signing since taking over at Rugby Park.

The 26-year-old player left Firhill for Dundee two years ago for around £150,000.

But a clause was inserted in the deal which stated the Jags would be due a percentage of any future fee Dundee received for the player's transfer - should it be above a certain figure.

There are conflicting reports surrounding Harkins' move to Killie today with some suggesting he was allowed to leave the Taysiders for nothing due to an agreement reached when the club went into administration last year.

Thistle chiefs are now monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, Thistle have confirmed winger Iain Flannigan and goalkeeper coach Craig Hinchcliffe will be back at Firhill next season after agreeing one-year contracts.

Flannigan, 23, scored four goals for the Jags last season after signing from Kilmarnock.

Hinchcliffe, who has been credited for the high standard of goalkeeping at Firhill in recent seasons and for bringing through the highly-rated Ryan Scully, has also agreed to return for Jackie McNamara's first full season in charge.
