Partick Thistle appeal Ian Maxwell red card

PARTICK THISTLE have written to the SFA as they appeal the costly red card dished out to Ian Maxwell in the closing minutes of Saturday's defeat at Inverness.

The veteran defender was harshly sent-off by referee David Somers for a last-man challenge on Adam Rooney despite appearing to get a toe on the ball first.

And to rub salt into the Jags' wounds, Rooney dusted himself down to score from the resultant penalty and consign Thistle to a third straight league defeat.

Partick boss Ian McCall was livid after the match and adamant the decision was wrong.

The Jags have now lodged an appeal with the SFA and sent video footage of the incident in a bid to get the straight red card rescinded.
