Partick Thistle deal in Celtic wing ace Ryan Conroy

Ryan Conroy

CELTIC reserve captain Ryan Conroy has joined Partick Thistle on loan until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old left-sided midfielder finally completed the short move to the west end of the city on Thursday and could be a key addition as the Jags bid for promotion.

Conroy has made just three appearances for Celtic's first team - the most recent in last year's Scottish Cup defeat at St Mirren.

But his value at the Parkhead giants is not understated and he captained the second string to a Reserve League Cup final victory against Dundee United last year.

Conroy, who is known for his deadly deliveries from set pieces, can also play at full back but is more suited to attacking on the left wing.

He has four Scotland under 21 caps to his name and is contracted to Thistle until May 2.

Meanwhile, Thistle boss Ian McCall has confirmed three of the club's old guard - captain Alan Archibald, John Robertson and David Rowson - have signed one year contract extensions at Firhill.

The experienced trio are now under contract until the summer of 2011.
