Partick Thistle transfer latest: Doolan in - Turner out

PARTICK THISTLE have signed junior international striker Kris Doolan for a four-figure sum from Auchinleck Talbot.

Jags boss Ian McCall has run the rule over the 22-year-old in a series of trial stints and on Friday agreed a deal with the player which will tie him to Firhill until May 2010.

The Ayrshireman has grabbed goals regularly for Talbot in the west region junior Superleague which has attracted interest from a number of senior clubs - Motherwell among them.

And, in a ringing endorsement which is sure to perk up Jags fans, McCall has likened the player to goal ace Liam Buchanan.

The manager said: "Kris is a player that I believe has a right good chance. He is very quick, is hungry to succeed and has a real eye of a goal.

"In many ways he is very reminiscent of Liam Buchanan when he first arrived at the club."

Doolan goes straight into the squad for Thistle's Homecoming Scottish Cup fourth round tie at Inverness on Saturday and is expected to take his place on the bench.

As Doolan embarks on a professional career, another player is heading out of Firhill.

Midfielder Chris Turner has been released from his contract after being told earlier this week he was free to speak with other clubs.
