Archie's team mates pay their own tribute to the Firhill stalwart

ALAN ARCHIBALD admits Partick Thistle's decision to turn Saturday into ‘Archie’s Day’ in his honour will make him the most humble man at Firhill this weekend.

The defender will play his 400th game for the Jags when they face Falkirk and the club are to mark his loyalty by laying on a host of events.

But the 34-year-old, who has had two spells in Maryhill sandwiched between a move to Dundee United, insists he’ll be blushing when he takes his bow.

He said: “I’ll be embarrassed on Saturday more than anything else but it’s terrific my club have decided to mark my 400th game in this way.

"I feel proud and humble that I've managed to play so many games and it’s something I will look back on at the end of my career with huge satisfaction.

"I didn’t realise how rare it us for a player to rack up so many games until I was told Partick legend Alan Rough was the last person to play as many games as I have.

"But the most important thing is for Thistle to get the result which would lift us above Falkirk.

"My contract is up soon but the gaffer has assured me there will be something for me in the summer so I just want to help the club finish this campaign as strongly as we can."
