EVERYBODY knows about the attractions of York, of course, but Harrogate is a little gem too.
The reason the town became one of the wealthiest in the North is based on the springs, discovered in the 16th century. One of the highlights of a visit to Harrogate is a trip to the Turkish Baths, recently restored and voted one of the top spas in the world. If taking a walk across the countryside is more your style, you won't be disappointed. The Nidd Valley and Pateley Bridge are well worth visiting, as are the weird and wonderful shapes of Brimham Rocks.
You don't have to travel hundreds of miles for a taste of the good life when you can find it in North Yorkshire.
