Genesis Tribute Act set to play at Clyde Auditorium

Genesis Tribute Act

WHEN Denis Gagné first took to the stage as Peter Gabriel he probably didn’t expect to still be emulating the rock star 19 years later.

Genesis tribute act The Musical Box originally got together to perform concerts over two weekends but are still going strong.

For one tour, Trick Of The Tale, Denis took over the role of Phil Collins, but Gabriel remains his true calling.

He said: “I’m far more comfortable playing Peter Gabriel. It’s what I know and love.”

Genesis themselves have hailed The Musical Box as even better than the originals at the height of their powers.

And the band is the only tribute act who have their permission to perform concept album, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.

The Musical Box use original props and costumes from the 1970s shows to bring the surreal concept album to life.

And they have even tracked down the original instruments used by Genesis on the tour.

Denis said: “I hope all the trouble makes it worthwhile for the audience. Genesis seem to approve of our attempts at fidelity, the support we receive from them is excellent.

“Two weeks ago we performed in front of some of the band and they said we were better than they were.

“In fact, on our last tour Peter Gabriel brought his daughters to a gig to show them what he used to do.”

The Musical Box play the Clyde Auditorium next month.

Denis said: “Any Genesis fans out there should come and see us, we’re picking up where they left off.”
