Wickerman Festival: Big break for Glasgow band Jack Townes

GLASGOW band Jack Townes will be performing at the 10th Wickerman festival.

Their frontman Jack Townes - real name Jack McElhone - is only 17 but is already tipped to be a huge success.

But this will come as no surprise, as his dad Johnny is a guitarist and plays with Texas.

The rest of band includes drummer Connaire McCann, 17, guitarist Andy O'Neill, 17 and bass player Johnny Madden, 19.

Festival coordinator Helen Chalmers said: "There is some amazing up-and-coming new talent in Scotland.

"The calibre for this year's festival is phenomenal. For our 10th anniversary celebrations we are going all out to put on the best festival we can."

The festival will be held on Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23, at East Kirkcarswell Farm, near Dundrennan , Kirkudbrightshire.

There will be 10 stages, including Solus, Summerisle Stage, Scooter Tent, The Acoustic Village, Axis Sound System Reggae Tent, Bass Camp, Greenman Inn, Headphone Arena, Ho Down Wendy House, and for the first time the goNORTH Festival Tour Stage.
