DEACON BLUE are to headline Glasgow's Hogmanay celebrations, organisers said today.
The band, who had a string of hitsthroughout the eighties, willjoin up-and-coming acts Tommy Reilly andBahookie in the city's GeorgeSquare.
Frontman Ricky Ross said: "We are very proud to be the headline act at this year's Hogmanay in George Square.
"Glasgow is our home town and we havenot played a full show inthe city for over a year. This will be a veryspecial night which weare all looking forward to."
Thousands of revellers are expected to descend on the city centre to see in 2010.
The night will be hosted by Real Radio's Paul Harper, Cat Harvey and Steve McKenna.
Lord Provost of Glasgow Bob Winter said Deacon Blue were "one of the most exciting live bands today".
"I know they will delight the thousandswho look forward toGlasgow's Hogmanay as the ultimate way to welcome inthe new year," hesaid.
"The crowd, music and wonderfulatmosphere make it the bestnight of the year, a celebration whichpromises to be a vibrantshowcase for the city over the festive period."
