Mesrine: Public Enemy No 1 (L'ennemi Public No 1) (15)
Mesrine is an epic and brutal tale of crime and punishment inspired by the true-life exploits of one of France's most notorious criminals. The opening salvo, Killer Instinct, was released at selected cinemas on August 7.
This second chapter continues the escapades of Mesrine (Vincent Cassel) as he achieves notoriety and escapes from prison with fellow convict Francois Besse (Mathieu Amalric). Aided by girlfriend Sylvie (Ludivine Sagnier), Mesrine gains confidence by robbing two banks in the space of a single hour but he fatally underestimates the resolve of police officer Broussard (Olivier Gourmet), who will stop at nothing to apprehend his man.
The Final Destination 4 (15)
Death stalks another group of teens in the fourth and potentially last in the Final Destination series. Nick O'Bannon (Bobby Campo) is enjoying a day of racing at the local car track when he has a premonition of a pile-up which causes debris to shoot into the crowd, killing his girlfriend Lori (Shantel Van Santen) and friends Janet (Haley Webb) and Hunt (Nick Zano).
Shaken by his dream, he persuades the group to leave shortly before his terrifying vision comes true. As the survivors of the disaster are killed in the order they would have died that fateful day, Nick must work out how to cheat death's grisly design.
In the Realm Of The Senses (AI No Corrida) (18)
The film is another reissue of Nagisa Oshima's 1976 examination of sexual obsession, which fell foul of the censors' scissors due to its highly explicit content. Set in pre-war Japan, the film traces the affair of a man, Kichi (Tatsuya Fuji), and a prostitute, Sada (Eiko Matsuda), whose desire for one another becomes so strong that everything else becomes meaningless.
The couple spend time engaging in risky sexual acts, until the gut-wrenching finale that will have all the men in the audience crossing their legs in pain.
