George Square ice spectacular

GLASGOW on Ice returns to George Square on Saturday and will provide the usual festive thrills and spills for the family to enjoy.

Running until Sunday, January 11, next year, Winterfest brings Christmas to Glasgow for all family to enjoy. This year the ice rink has moved to the centre of the square to allow skaters to circle the great Scot Monument while taking in all the attractions around the rink.

Afterwards to warm up, have a hot chocolate, take ride on the helter-skelter and enjoy all the attractions of the festival. The Festive Market will feature many stalls selling unusual christmas gifts and continental snacks, washed down with a glass of mulled wine.

A new addition to the square this year is the Winterfest Big Stage, which will hold a varied programme of events including a festive film night to enjoy Christmas classics in the perfect setting.

Wrap up warm and get your skates on. Glasgow on Ice is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 10pm. Last session at 8pm on Christmas eve and closed Christmas day, Hogmanay and New Year's day.
